The Makers of Planet Earth Present LIFE, Another Top-Rated David Attenborough Nature Documentary Series

Nature documentary lovers are talking about the latest BBC Earth nature documentary called LIFE. They are most interested in the United Kingdom version of Life which is narrated by David Attenborough and which features music by the award winning composer, George Fenton. They are not so keen on the Discovery Channel version which features narration by Oprah Winfrey.

This BBC series is a 10-part miniseries, which shares the art of staying alive in the creature world. Created by the makers of the extremely popular Planet Earth, it used high-definition cinematography and plenty of strategy to share the creatures lives as they procreated, as they escaped (or not) from predators and as they struggled to feed themselves.

I have not seen David Attenborough's Life series yet, but it is high on my wish list. On this page, you will find more information about the series, the documentary trailer and reviews from professional and non-professional reviewers. If you are trying to decide whether or not this documentary is for you, this page should prove helpful. If you have already seen the series, make sure you take a moment at the end of this page to let us know what you thought of it.

Editorial Review of Life

"Packed with excitement, revelation and entertainment, this remarkable 11-part series is available in two versions: a U.S. edition narrated by Oprah Winfrey; and the original BBC edition, narrated by David Attenborough.

The series captures unprecedented, astonishingly beautiful sequences and demonstrates the spectacular and extraordinary tactics animals and plants have developed to stay alive.

Episodes are: Challenges of Life; Reptiles and Amphibians; Mammals; Fish; Birds; Insects; Hunters and Hunted; Creatures of the Deep; Plants; Primates; and The Making of Life.

Bonus features include 'Life on Location' -- a collection of ten production video diaries showing the exhaustive efforts by the filmmaking team to bring the series to the screen, plus deleted scenes." ~~ The Producers

"If you are relatively new to BBC documentaries, this will amaze you to no end AND provide a nice informative summary of life on earth. If you are a seasoned watcher of Attenborough's series, you can still enjoy this series as a combination of educational summary, a provider of new, complementary and upgraded information with some of the most beautiful, rare and amazing footage ever recorded, and even as a highly entertaining natural drama and comedy, or 'nature dramedy', if I may coin a phrase. However, if you place emphasis on educational and more comprehensive information, Attenborough's previous Life series still reign supreme and will probably remain unequalled for a long, long time." ~ Zev Toledano

"This is why I bought a blu-ray player!" ~ Baron Von Hofmann

"Attenborough has been with us nature lovers for decades (I can remember him from The Living Planet series) and he's still going strong! One can tell that this man really knows his stuff and is indeed fascinated by the material, not just as a passing whim, but a lifelong passion. He is a true naturalist in an age in which that is a dying profession, and his enthusiasm for the wonder and complexity of life on earth is really made apparent with his narration. While others read words off a page, Attenborough lives the lives of the creatures themselves in the brief seconds during which they flash upon our screens." ~ Aubyn Stafford

Which do YOU think is better, the version of Life narrated by David Attenborough or the one narrated by Oprah Winfrey?
