American Country: Recipes for Country Cooking, A Cookbook Review
Time-Life presents American Country's Country Cooking Featuring Recipes For Down Home Country Cooking
American Country's Country Cooking cookbook features recipes for traditional country fare and is a part of the series of American Country books released by Time-Life Books in the 1980s. More importantly, it is one of my all-time favorite cookbooks and the source of some of my family's favorite recipes.
The recipes in Country Cooking are not necessarily simple or easy. However, they are absolutely, positively delicious and, if are searching for good, solid comfort food recipes country style, you should own this cookbook.
The Time-Life American Country book series features country, primitive style. Each book contains great information and pictures, projects, tips and ideas for you to use at home. There were twenty volumes published in total and I own most of them. However, Country Cooking, packed with great recipes for country cooking, is without question, my favorite from this series.
Although Country Cooking was published in the 1980s, it is still readily available either brand-new or used from sellers both on Amazon and eBay. On this page, you will find information about the book and the series. You will find links to a couple of my favorite recipes from this amazing country cookbook and you will find links to both Amazon and eBay, where you can source your own copy of this wonderful cookbook.

The Best-Ever Stuffed Roast Turkey
Our version of the Stuffed Roast Turkey recipe from Country Cooking
Stuffed Roast Turkey is a recipe from Country Cooking that we love and have every year at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The stuffing boasts some of the usual ingredients like onion, bread and parsley PLUS it adds a healthy amount of vegetables including carrots and mushrooms. Mix it up and stuff it in your turkey for what may well be the best-ever stuffed roast turkey! (Sometimes I even cheat and simply make the stuffing in a casserole dish, adding an extra bit of olive oil and butter to make sure it is not too dry.) To find this delicious recipe for stuffed roast turkey, you will have to turn to page 41 of Country Cooking.

American Country's Country Baking Cookbook
American Country's Country Baking
Here's a cooking companion to American Country's Country Cooking. Unfortunately, it was one of the books I did NOT buy in the 1980s and only recently picked up so I am as yet unable to give this book a solid recommendation. However, I am hoping it will live up to the first cookbook. If you know that it does, be sure to take a moment and tell us in the guest comments book at the end of this page!
